Testing Thinking Particles

I am planning to come up with a new video with some different abstract animating elements. Actually i have been planning this from a long time and also have a few scenes ready, but couldn't go ahead with it since i was a bit caught up with the music video project and some other things. During the making of "The Progression" i was experimenting with a lot of things, some of them made it to the video and some didn't. During this stage i was kind of testing the thinking particles system for a few days. I tweaked some dynamic elements and played around with some lighting to came up with this result. I haven't composited the scene yet but i thought it would be good to share this stuff. This is actually the raw render and i have roughly edited this scene so that its actually watchable. You might want to switch to HD for better quality.

The Progression (Music Video)

I just finished doing this video for the music duo Ritesh & Rajesh. The video is about the ongoing fight against black money and corruption in India. It took me little over a month to do this entire stuff from concept to the final animation and editing.

It basically started out as a weeks project. The music was mainly composed by Rajesh, who had already worked on bits and pieces of it before contacting me. When the final music was done i was asked to do a simple video within a week. But i kinda of liked this idea very much and kept pushing and adding things to make it look even better both conceptually and visually. Thanks to Rajesh who always supported me inspite to the increasing timespan and let me do what i wanted to with this piece.
So please have a look at this music video, do share this stuff around if you like it and support the cause.

Download the music here.

What We Did On Super Moon

I just had some spare time for a couple of days, so thought of coming up with a small comical. The most suitable topic that flashed my mind was the over hyped Super Moon that occurred last Saturday(19-03-2011). So i grabbed some photos, recorded a video of my friends dancing, wrote and recorded some dialogues and added some music to quickly make a 2d animation.
Its nothing great, but i thought it would be fun to relate a comical scenario to the very hyped super moon. Just for fun!

Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo

I got my hands on the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo a couple of weeks back. When i downloaded the demo, i was really sceptic about the game running properly on my PC, altough the benchmarks on Geforce showed it would do just fine. The reason was, Crysis is know to bring even the best GPUs to its knees and make them cry. When Crysis was released 4 years ago, i was forced to buy a new card just to play the game at a decent framerate. I bought a 8800GT which was a great performing card at a affordable price at that time. After Crysis warhead and now Crysis 2 whose full version is going to run on DirectX11 the visuals are only going to get better, hence more load on the GPU. But as Geforce had promised, the game ran just fine, proving my speculations wrong. Although i heard that the demo version uses only DirectX9

I played the game on both my PC with a Geforce 8800GT(on advanced settings) and my Dell Precision with a Quadro FX 880M(on gamer settings). And both played the game really well at 1280x720 at around 30-40fps. Although my laptop was playing fairly well on the advanced settings, i just didnt want to overheat it. I didn't test my 8800GT on hardcore settings, i was sure there would be a good frame drop and i didn't want to ruin the experience.

When you start the game you are given a brief intro on the demo. Then you are taken to the login screen where you asked to create an account and login. After you are logged in, you can search for servers running a game and join it and start playing. You may have to be patient for a while here since sometimes the servers are full, or empty with no other players. Find a server with 5-10 players logged in and you can start the game in a jiffy or enter an empty sever and wait for other players to join in, or create your own server and connect with known ips to start playing with friends

The demo has only 2 game modes and 2 two maps to choose from. One of the game modes is the "Team Instant Action" with 6x6 players, winner takes it all. The other one is the "Crash Site", which is more like capture and hold, where you have to do the same for the containers dropped by alien ships at random places. The maps provided are "Skyline", where you play at the rooftops of the building and "Pier 17", which is a more grounded location. The game provides an upgraded nanosuit with power-ups like Cloak to be invisible, Armour mode to take on damage, slide and shoot and the ground shock where you can cause damage over a wide area by stomping the ground while landing a jump.

The demo has been in news from the day of its release from the gameplay to server overloads. Even the demo donwload has been shutdown due to the heavy server overload and I have not been able to play the game for some time now. EA has assured to fix the issue soon.
Overall the game is really fun to play, with personal levels, upgrades and unlockables. I am sure the Crysis 2 single player campaign will be a huge fun along the multiplayer, with added game modes and maps in the full version with spectacular visuals supported by DirectX11. The game is going to be released on March 25th.
Till then Be Strong, Be Fast, Be Invisible,...............Be The Weapon.

The Turning Point - Screening

Hi guys, as i had mentioned in earlier post, we had the screening of our short movie The Turning Point last week. We had Mr. Giriraj Bakale, the head of  DIC (Dedicated Incubation Center) Bangalore as our guest on this eve. He was also here to give a seminar on Rotoscoping which is his expertise. He has actually worked on movies like Prince of persia(2010), Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia (2010), just to mention a few, so it was great for us to have him here and share his experience.
It was a fun evening, we got a great response for the movie and we enjoyed every bit of it. Its actually a 30min short movie. The movie is about two friends one of whom falls prey to smoking and drugs. The movie tries to show the deeper roots of such events and how it becomes the turning phase in both their lives. The movie has a great background score combined with some good narration, editing & effects. And i am sure you wont get bored at any point in the movie.
I hope you enjoyed a little brief up about the movie. Will be adding more pics from the movie. It wont be possible immediately, but we will make the movie online as soon as possible.

To see more pics(with descriptions) from the screening and to know more about the movie you can visit our facebook page The Turning Point - Short Movie

Banned from Facebook for 4 Days

The title might seem a bit exagerated, but here is a funny story. My friend(the one who is making the movie "The turning point", the trailer of which you can find in the post below) is so obsessed with his movie or i would say he is really over excited about it and want to share what he is making with everyone he meets. Its like he wants everyone in the world to know that he is making a movie. And to make his dreams come true, these days you get tools such as facebook. But facebook didnt turn up the way he would have liked it. Here is what happened.
After the trailer was made he sent friend requets to many random people whom he didnt know and also to some the local and national movie makers and actors. I dont know was it because of the mass random friend requets sent or the because someone reported his requests as spam, the next days he got a message from facebook that he had sent too many friend requests to the people he does not know and this has been treated as spam and "you are banned from sending or accepting friend requests for 4 days and if this process continues repeatedly, your account will be terminated", like forever.
Well, his dreams of over promoting his movie on facebook has been shattered. But its good to know that facebook has some policies that support privacy(kind of). Well the moral of the story is, never send random mass friend requets on facebook or you could be restricted from some of the options for 4 days.
Ok, that was the story of the month, have a great February.

The Turning Point - Trailer

Hi guys, this is the official trailer of the upcoming short movie "The Turning Point". It had to come a lot earlier, but i was a bit busy with some of my other work, so couldn't finish it on time. We have finished editing most of the parts, still color correcting some of the scenes and a few effects still to be added. Hopefully we will finish the job soon and the movie will be out on time.
We had a lot of fun making the trailer. Had a bit of a hard time setting the music up, but we tried our best with the available time and resources in hand. We hope you like this.

Ring & Shield Design

Hi guys, these are a few designs that i made in my free time a couple of weeks back. The ring design somewhat resembles to the Tron ring, and about the shield, i have absolutely no idea. I was in the Tron mood so added a bit of Tron touch to it, giving it some neon glows. I have provided the download links for the eps files, so you can modify it and/or use it in some of your own works if required.
